Background
A supplier of recreational and hunting equipment manufactures various types of gear used by naturalists, hikers, hunters and sportsmen. Since the products are typically used outdoors, they must withstand the various forces of nature, including rain and or snow.
Problem:
The equipment includes various metal components such as speaker grills, brackets and graphic backer plates. Products needed to be delivered with short lead times and at a competitive price.
Solution:
Raybold reviewed the customer’s drawings and made several suggestions to enable the components to be manufactured more efficiently and to withstand the environment.
The design included special powder coated finishes, a unique hole pattern to create a speaker grid, and printing a “glow in the dark” ink for nighttime use. Hard tooling and special fixtures were designed to increase production efficiencies and lower overall costs.
